The Asobagri cooperative was founded in 1989 by 20 small farmers. It has grown stronger year after year, and today its 650 members produce high quality, shade grown coffee using organic compost. Since becoming Fair Trade certified by Fairtrade Labeling Organization International (FLO) in 1999, Asobagri has enjoyed higher revenues, improved living conditions for their families, and educational opportunities for their children.
The coffees are of either Caturra or Bourbon variety, but all are strictly hard bean in character.
We dark roast these beans to a Viennese level, bringing out big chocolate and molasses notes. The cup produced is full bodied with a clean, semi-sweet finish.
