Citizens of Yorktown Walking Tour- Entrepreneurs 1600’s to Today

Entrepreneurship began in Yorktown in the 1620s with tobacco plantations popping up along the York River. It continued when Yorktown became a valuable colonial port in 1691 and merchants like “Scotch” Tom Nelson immigrated to the new world to make their fortunes.
This tour will explore other entrepreneurs of Yorktown including female tavern owners, a famous African American barber, a “Poor Potter” and others who built Yorktown and America!
